Inhalation therapy

Inhalation therapy is one of the most modern methods for preventing or alleviating respiratory diseases. Regular inhalations moisten the respiratory tract and increase their resistance to infectious agents and mechanical irritants, promote respiratory tract cleansing and normal functioning. Inhalers, also known as nebulizers, are devices used to perform this procedure. Medicines, water, saline solution or other liquid substances are vaporized and “carried” into the human body through special systems, reaching the respiratory tract and thus causing a certain effect.

Diseases that an inhaler can help treat:

  • Allergies, asthma and other conditions that cause flare-ups or attacks
  • Bronchitis, rhinitis, other chronic respiratory diseases
  • Acute respiratory tract infections – laryngitis, pharyngitis.
  • In certain cases, inhalation therapy may also be prescribed for disorders of the nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and other systems.

Since inhalation therapy is one of the ways to deliver medicine to the body, any disease can be treated using a nebulizer, and the diseases listed above are only the most common diseases for which inhalation therapy is used. Be sure to consult a doctor or pharmacist before using an inhaler to treat any disease. A specialist will advise you on the right medicine, determine the duration and frequency of inhalation.

Saline inhalations

Prophylactic inhalations with saline solution are recommended to be performed regularly, even when not sick. This reduces the risk of colds and maintains normal respiratory function. It is especially important to perform prophylaxis in children, as they suffer from respiratory diseases several times more often than adults. Regular inhalations are also recommended for people who work with chemicals or other hazardous substances, in environments where there is a lot of dust or other small mechanical particles that enter the respiratory tract. Most often, for preventive purposes, it is enough to perform the inhalation procedure 2 times a week.

If you do not perform inhalations as a preventive measure, then it is recommended to start inhalations with saline solution as soon as you feel the first signs of a cold. In the initial stage of the disease, inhalations can help prevent the multiplication of pathogens. Inhalation therapy started on time helps to prevent more serious respiratory diseases and can ease the course of the disease. Modern modern inhalers operate extremely quietly, so they are pleasant to use for children.

Regular inhalations with saline solution moisturize the airways, facilitate expectoration, and can help improve respiratory function. Inhalations can also relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and stuffy nose.

Do not add any additional medications or substances to the saline solution for inhalation unless instructed otherwise by a healthcare professional. Distilled water may be used instead of saline.
